Fars is the 4th largest province in Iran. It’s considered the land of culture and literature.

History

Fars region was the habitat of one of the Aryan tribes, named Pars.

Geography

Fars Province with Shiraz as its capital extends to Isfahan province on the north, Yazd province to the east, Hormozgan and Bushehr Provinces to the south, and Kohgiluyeh province to the west.

This region is comprised of many plains, deserts, lakes, mountains, valleys, rivers, and springs. Mountains cover 70% of this province.

Climate

Fars Province can be divided into 3 climate zones: Moutain Zone (with very cold winters), central zone (with temperate winters and dry summers), and the third zone with temperate winters and warm summers.
April-May is considered the best time for visiting this province, while the scent of orange blooms can be felt in its mild weather.
