30 Apr. 2024: Visa Validity of Iranian Tourist visa reduced to 45 days.
The validity of all tourist visas issued from 30 April 2025 are reduced to 45 days from the previous 90-day validity. Visa validity is the period within which you can ENTER Iran after ISSUE of the visa.
1 Nov. 2024 : All Iranian Consulates in Germany (ex. Berlin) are closed.
The Iranian Consulates in Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich are closed from 1 Nov. 2024. Those who need to collect their visas in such cities need to refer to Berlin or Iranian consulates in other countries.
31 Jan. 2024: Visa-Free Entry for Nationals of 28 Countries to be operational from 4 Feb. 2024
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Iran has officially declared that, starting on February 4, 2024, nationals from 28 countries are now eligible to visit Iran for a maximum duration of 15 days within every 6-month period without the need for a visa.
The list of countries includes:
- Bahrain
- Belarus
- Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Brazil
- Brunei Dar es Salaam
- Cambodia
- Croatia
- India (only if entering via airports)
- Indonesia
- Japan
- kuwait
- Kyrgyzstan
- Mauritania
- Mauritius
- Mexico
- Peru
- Qatar
- Russia (only in organized groups)
- Saudi Arabia
- Serbia
- Seychelles
- Singapore
- Tanzania
- Tunisia
- United Arab Emirates
- Uzbekistan
- Vietnam
- Zimbabwe
Citizens of the following countries were already enjoying visa-free entry privileges:
- Georgia (45 days)
- Armenia (90 days)
- Syria (90 days)
- Iraq (30 days)
- Kazakhstan (14 days)
- Azerbaijan (14 days)
- China (21 days)
- Hong Kong (21 days)
- Macao (21 days)
- Egypt (20 days)
- Lebanon (29 days)
- Malaysia (15 days)
- Oman (29 days)
- Syria (90 days)
Furthermore, the Iranian government has approved a 30-day visa-free travel arrangement for nationals of Tajikistan, although it is not yet operational.
13 Dec. 2023: 33 new countries to be added to Iran Visa Waiver List
The Iranian Ministry of Tourism’s proposal to cancel visas for some countries has been approved by the Iranian government and the nationals of the following countries can soon enter Iran without a visa :
India, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, Peru, Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia, Venezuela, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Belarus, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Mauritania, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
Iran Visa Application Process
In compliance with the regulations set forth by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Tourist visa is granted to foreign nationals who wish to travel to Iran either independently, as part of a group, or to visit friends and relatives.
This visa allows for a maximum stay of 90 days, with the possibility of extensions within Iran, and remains valid for a period of 3 months from the date of issuance. Depending on your nationality and the consulate you approach, you have the option to submit your documents and obtain a visa after a few days without requiring a reference from Iran. Alternatively, you can apply through the new e-visa system. However, this process may prove time-consuming or unproductive, especially when applying from outside your home country.
Most consulates typically require an authorization letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran, a crucial step in the visa application process. Once you have obtained this authorization code, the remaining steps are relatively straightforward, and you can usually receive your visa within 1 or 2 days.
While an Entry (Business) visa is an option, it necessitates an invitation letter from your Iranian host. It’s important to note that opting for a tourist visa provides the advantage of enjoying special tourist rates with hotels and other accommodations.
Step 1 : Complete the Application Form
Your submitted data will be used to generate a formal application sent to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, granting authorization to the consulate for visa issuance. It’s crucial to ensure the accuracy of the details entered, as they must align with your passport information and the documents you will later submit to the consulate for visa collection.
Step 2 : Payment
Upon submission of your application, you will be provided with the service bill and payment instructions. It’s important to note that this charge is separate from the visa fee required for the consulate to stamp your passport in Step 4.
Step 3 :Â Obtaining the Visa Grant Notice
Upon completion, you will receive an authorization letter, referred to as the Visa Grant Notice, which will be sent to the Iranian Consulate or airport specified in your application form. You will be provided with both the visa code and a visa grant notice document, allowing you to retrieve your visa. Please note that this code is exclusively valid for the designated consulate and only for a duration of 2 or 3 months from the date of issue. If needed, you can request us to forward it to another consulate for an additional charge.
Step 4 :Â Visa Collection
With the reference code in hand, proceed to the consulate accompanied by your passport (valid for the next 6 months), the completed visa application form (available for pickup at the consulate or downloadable from their website), 2 recent passport-sized photos (sometimes not required), the applicable visa fee (subject to your nationality), and the authorization reference code. Always ensure to verify the specific document requirements with the consulate, as variations may exist from one consulate to another. Step 5. Arrival in Iran
