Tis is a farming village that has 2,500 years of history. The village was named Tiz at the time of Alexander of Macedonia’s attack on the Persian Empire. Tis was a flourishing trade center before the Mongol attack in the 13th century. The Portuguese attacked and established control over Tis in 1506. The British took over Tis in 1616.
