Located on a small plateau overlooking Shatit river, the remains of a fortress can be seen which dates back to Achaemenid (550-330 BC.) and Sassanid eras (224 to 651 AD). The fortress was used for defending Shushtar, it was the headquarters of the local ruler and was also a center for controlling the hydraulic system. Darioun canal, dug during the Achaemenid era (550-330 BC.), starts underneath the fortress and was an important part of the hydraulic system.
