Boyni Yoghun Castle
The castle has a history of 4500 years with archaeological findings from the Bronze Age, Parthian era and later post-Islamic eras.
Boyni Yoghun (meaning thick neck in Azeri) lies on rock cliffs, 300m high and was protected by strong fortifications. Remains of water reservoirs dug into the rock can be seen on the top of the castle. There are signs of continuous inhabitance from Parthian till Safavid era. Archaeological excavations are currently ongoing in the site.
