On a hill overlooking the tranquil city of Rayen, Rayen citadel is about a quarter of the size of Bam Citadel. It is over 1000 years old, though its exact age is still unknown.
This citadel has been abandoned for about 150 years. The imposing outer walls are 3m thick at the base and 1m thick at the top and support most of the existing 15 towers.
