Si-o-Se means 33 in Farsi. The bridges is called so
as it's comprised of 33 arches. It's also known as
Allahverdi Khan Bridge after one of favorite genrals
of Shah Abbas I.
This 298m-long bridge was constructed between 1599
and 1602 to link the upper and lower halves of
Chahar Bagh Boulvard.
It not only function as a bridge but also as a dam,
and is still used to hold water today. This makes
the river wider in this part of the city and giving
a nice atmosphere.
There are some teahouses at either ends of the
bridge which are great places to stop.
